The story of Apalbé

In Madagascar, there is a fruit that fills the air with its sweet fragrance: the jackfruit.

Abundant on the island, it was a part of my childhood. Its color, its soft flesh, and the simple joy of sharing it are etched in my memory.

Apalbé takes its name from this fruit, phonetically inspired by it, like a tender nod to my roots. This taste, this warmth, this generosity… I wanted to convey them in a different way.

Then there was Saumur.

This city has nourished my inspiration, its heritage, its history, its identity.

It was in this city that my dreams took shape, that the desire to dare became stronger than fear.

It was in this city that I decided to make them happen: to open my boutique of handmade smocked dresses.

It was in this city that I took my first steps as an entrepreneur.

It was in this city that my two little "muses" were born.

This is how Apalbé came into being, a smocked clothing brand for children, inspired by the pure joy of childhood memories and those yet to be created.

Inspired by French style, each piece is designed and takes shape in Saumur, Maine-et-Loire, France. Each piece is then created with patience and love, like picking a ripe fruit, between the fairy fingers of Malagasy artisans who have learned to tuck from generation to generation.

At Apalbé, we dress little ones (and older ones too) like we cultivate memories — every garment has a story.
